Congregational Membership
Does your Wisconsin congregation:
Seek justice
Care for neighbors and community
Long for shared mission and ministry?
The Wisconsin Council of Churches welcomes your request to join as a Local Congregation Member. Local Congregation Members agree with our ecumenical purpose and agree to collaborate in our work, agree to support our budget with an annual contribution,
and join with the consent of any denominational judicatory member to which they relate.
What might this look like?
Church A - subscribes to the WCC eNews and shares action opportunities with the church. They have previously used a study-action guide on immigration as a Lenten resource and are eagerly awaiting the release of the upcoming spring series “Repenting from White Christian Nationalism.”
Church B - hosted a conversation on Digital Equity led by WCC staff, and a member trained to be a digital ambassador, helping neighbors get connected to the internet, and learning ways to improve their Sunday morning online service at no cost.
Church C - visited the WCC table at their annual Conference meeting and learned about its work on indigenous justice. The church’s racial justice team consulted with WCC staff about their land acknowledgment statement and ways to build responsible relationships with Native communities in Wisconsin. They decided to join the growing movement of churches in Wisconsin taking restorative action and supporting intertribal repatriation work.
Church D - wanted to build connections between their youth and those in a community very different from their own. WCC staff consulted with the pastor, volunteers and youth and used the WCC network to bridge differences, making introductions that would allow both churches to explore something new.
Church E - was looking for resources on peacemaking. The WCC was able to connect them to the historic peace churches among our membership and ecumenical resources, as well as fellow members the Interfaith Peace Working Group, which works on domestic and global issues, and JustDane, which seeks real change for formerly incarcerated individuals.
