The Wisconsin Council of Churches is recruiting artists to participate in its “Repenting From Christian Nationalism” sermon series. Taking place during Lent (March 5-April 13th, 2025), this series will unpack themes of Christian Nationalism, inviting congregations to reflect on their complicity and how they can work against them.

Artists are invited to submit works of art based on one of six themes that will be used in bulletin art and/or in projected worship aids. AI-generated art will not be accepted. The art can be done in any medium, but must be submitted as a high-resolution digital file of no less than 300 dpi (the higher resolution the better). Your file must be less than 400 MB in size. Acceptable file types include JPG, JPEG, PDF or PNG. Preferred orientation is VERTICAL (taller than it is wide) or SQUARE. Art that does not meet our technical requirements will not be considered.

Artists whose pieces are chosen will receive a $250 honorarium as a thank-you for the use of your work. You will receive full credit for your work.

These criteria will be included in the selection process:

  • How will the art “read” in print? when enlarged to projection size? on social media?

  • Is the theme clear and easily understood?

  • Does the art explore the theme in an unusual or previously unexplored manner?

  • Is the art suitable for viewing by all ages? Can a range of viewers see themselves in it?

  • Will the art and its message prompt a discussion?
